SAFIRE's Core Power curriculum encourages young Asian women in Oakland, California to develop greater awareness of themselves as part of family and community. SAFIRE participants do physical activities like martial arts, yoga, meditation and popular theater to build inner strength and be effective activists and leaders; they explore issues that impact them, from body image to youth depiction in the media; and they develop innovative organizing campaigns to educate and empower their peers.
