Transforming API Communities: Tools for Sexuality Education
Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice
Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice has developed a toolkit for engaging Asian and Pacific Islander parents and caregivers in conversations about sexuality to support the health and development of their children. This one-of-a kind resource will help service providers, organizers and advocates to engage our communities, who have traditionally been left out of the dialogue and organizing efforts around sexuality education, and transform their beliefs about the benefits of sexuality education into action for change.
How can YOU use Transforming API Communities?
- Use the tools in your parent education classes and workshops to spark conversations about sex and sexuality!
- Have a dialogue with parent leaders to identify ways that they can get involved with their childrens’ schools to advocate for better sexuality education!
- Share the toolkit with local reproductive health service providers who are interested in culturally relevant approaches to outreaching to API communities!
Once you’ve engaged your communities and are now ready to build power to change policies, check out Community Interpretation of Reproductive Justice to see how!

Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice is a community-based organization based in Oakland, California that organizes communities, develops leaders, and builds relationships to change policies so that our communities can experience reproductive justice. We are working toward the day when all people have the economic, social and political power and resources to make decisions about our bodies, gender, sexuality, and reproduction so that our families and communities can thrive.
