Lifting Up Latino/a Voices! Health-Education-Justice for Our Youth

California Latinas for Reproductive Justice

California Latinas for Reproductive Justice has produced this video to highlight the points of views of Latino parents, who are largely thought of as not being in support of comprehensive sex ed when in actuality, 90% are. Our goal is to highlight the voices of parents and students speaking for themselves on the importance of comprehensive sex ed in their own communities and thereby inspire other folks to get involved in their own communities, both at the local and state level, so that comprehensive sex ed is something that we see across the country.

How can YOU use Lifting Up Latino/a Voices!?

  • Stream the video on your laptop while tabling at events to provide an entry point to conversations for folks stopping by!
  • Show the video to parents you work with – or would like to begin working with – to spark conversations that they might want to have but have never had the opportunity to have. Seeing other parents that represent their own communities talk about how they support comprehensive sexuality education might open them up to talking about their own questions, ideas and concerns.
  • Share the video with local and state policymakers to demonstrate the trend of moving away from abstinence-only education and garner support for policies that support comprehensive sexuality education.
