Forward Stance Leadership Initiative

Forward Stance is working for ACRJ. Our leadership development and movement building programs have grown and flourished from the ground that Forward Stance has provided. Forward Stance Leadership Initiative (FSLI) trainings allow us to share Forward Stance with other social justice allies so that together we can cultivate a stronger and more vibrant movement. The training program, led by ACRJ and Norma Wong of Institute for Zen Studies, provides in-depth opportunities for leadership teams from social change organizations to experience, learn and practice Forward Stance in the company of other social justice allies. The initiative also provides introductory trainings to organizations that want to explore how Forward Stance could support organizational and alliance-building leadership and strategy.

Forward Stance Leadership
Initiative

Our first FSLI training was held in June 2010. Over 15 organizations sent leadership teams for 2 days of practice. It was a great success – at least that's what participants say!

"Where we are doing movement building work we're all in our heads. I’m looking for innovative ways to do the work with not always the same people. Thank you for this opportunity."

"We only raise our awareness when we are in a crisis. How can we go through our lives and have total awareness of what is around us and what we are doing?"

"I am filled with a ton of gratitude to have a space to check my assumptions. Thank you for creating space for me to pace myself. I can practice breathing with other people. This is very powerful. I feel like its okay to ask for help."
